Your life at twenty
A gentle talk about the future

Ask your kid to describe an ordinary Tuesday in their life at age twenty, from waking up to going to bed. Listen without correcting, then tell them what you see in them.
You’ll need
- Nothing (a car ride or a walk is perfect)
How to do it together
- 1
Ask: picture an ordinary Tuesday when you're twenty. Where do you wake up?
- 2
Keep going: what do you do all day? Who do you see? What do you eat?
- 3
Listen without fixing anything.
- 4
Tell them one thing you think they'll be great at.
- 5
Then share what your own life looked like at twenty.
Make it easier
Start with a smaller jump: next summer.
Make it harder
Ask them to describe a day at thirty too, and compare.
Why it’s worth it
It shows tweens you take their dreams seriously. Listening without fixing builds trust you'll need in the teen years.
With Weekadoo
In your weekly plan, this idea comes with gentle prompts about an imagined day at twenty (where you wake up, who you live with, what you do first, what you'd eat, who you'd call, what you'd be proud of), written for your child
Every Sunday, a plan with a 10-minute idea for each child on weeknights and a family one for the weekend, picked for their ages and what they love.
