Thank-you note

A small thank-you that makes someone's week

15 min Ages 7-13 Indoors
Thank-you note: a parent and child doing it together

Write a short thank-you note together for a teacher, coach or neighbor who helped this month. It takes 15 minutes and someone will remember it for years.

You’ll need

How to do it together

  1. 1

Ask your child: who helped you this month? A teacher, a coach, the bus driver, a neighbor.

  2. 2

Talk about what exactly they did.

  3. 3

Write the note together: thank you for… because…

  4. 4

    Decorate the card.

  5. 5

Deliver it in person if you can.

Make it easier

Younger kids can draw a picture and sign their name.

Make it harder

Older kids write the whole note and say thank you in person.

Why it’s worth it

Gratitude grows with practice. And kids see how good it feels to make someone else's day.
