Puzzle race
Two teams, one puzzle

Split a jigsaw puzzle into two piles and race as two teams to finish your half first, then join them together.
You’ll need
- A jigsaw puzzle you already have (100 to 300 pieces)
- A table or floor space
How to do it together
- 1
Split the pieces into two piles by the picture: top half and bottom half (sort them together first).
- 2
Make two teams, each with a grown-up and a kid.
- 3
Race to finish your half.
- 4
When both halves are done, join them together as one family.
- 5
Leave it out for a day so everyone can admire it.
Make it easier
For 5-year-olds, use a 24- or 48-piece puzzle.
Make it harder
Hide the box picture and race from memory.
Why it’s worth it
A little competition makes puzzles fun for kids who'd never sit still for one. And the ending is teamwork.
