Puzzle night
Quiet music, cocoa and a jigsaw puzzle

Open a jigsaw puzzle you already own, put on quiet music and build it together. Cocoa optional, conversation guaranteed.
You’ll need
- A jigsaw puzzle
- A table you can leave it on
- Quiet music (and cocoa, if you like)
How to do it together
- 1
Pick a puzzle that fits the youngest player.
- 2
Turn all the pieces face up together.
- 3
Start with the edges: hunting for straight sides is a great job for little ones.
- 4
Split up by color or area of the picture, and celebrate every piece that clicks.
- 5
Leave it on the table and add a few pieces each evening until it's done.
Make it easier
Use a 24 to 48 piece puzzle for little kids.
Make it harder
Try a 500-piece puzzle over a week, or time how fast the family can finish a small one.
Why it’s worth it
Hands busy, eyes down: it's one of the easiest ways to talk with kids. The best conversations often happen over a puzzle.
