Nature hike bingo
Turn any walk into a treasure hunt

Take a short trail walk with a bingo card: a bird, a leaf, a cloud shaped like an animal. Whoever gets a line first shouts BINGO.
You’ll need
- A bingo card with 9 or 16 squares (draw it at home)
- A pencil
- Comfortable shoes
How to do it together
- 1
Draw a bingo card together before you go, with things you might see: a bird, a pinecone, a red leaf, a dog, a funny cloud, a bug.
- 2
Pick a short trail or a walk around the block.
- 3
Mark each thing as you spot it, and say where you saw it.
- 4
When someone gets a line, they shout BINGO. Keep going for a full card.
- 5
At home, pick the best find of the day.
Make it easier
For 4-year-olds, use pictures instead of words, and only 9 squares.
Make it harder
For older kids, add tricky squares: a bird call, a footprint, something that doesn't belong in nature.
Why it’s worth it
A walk becomes a mission, and kids who complain about walking suddenly want to keep going. You'll notice more too.
