Hallway sock hockey
No equipment, big laughs

Slide around in socks and play hockey in the hallway, with a rolled-up sock as the puck and laundry baskets as goals.
You’ll need
- Socks to slide in
- A rolled-up pair of socks for the puck
- Two laundry baskets or towels for goals
- Rolled-up newspapers or pool noodles for sticks
How to do it together
- 1
Clear the hallway and put a laundry basket on its side at each end as a goal.
- 2
Roll a pair of socks into a tight ball for the puck.
- 3
Make sticks from rolled-up newspaper taped at the ends, or use pool noodles.
- 4
Play short rounds of two minutes, then switch goalies.
- 5
Try fun rounds: shootout, one-knee hockey, no hands for the goalie.
Safety: Keep it away from stairs and sharp corners. No hitting high with the sticks.
Make it easier
Play on your knees for less sliding, or roll the puck instead of hitting it.
Make it harder
Keep score for a whole tournament, with team names and a trophy.
Why it’s worth it
It's loud, it's silly and it uses the energy kids have left after a rainy day. And yes, they'll beat you.
