Guess how many
Guess, count, and see who was closer
8 min Ages 7-11 Indoors or out Rainy dayNothing to buy

Both of you write down a guess for something you can actually count, then count it together to see who was closer. Great at the dinner table or in a waiting room.
You’ll need
- Paper and a pencil
- Something countable: grapes in a bowl, steps to the corner, stairs at home
How to do it together
- 1
Pick something you can count: books on a shelf, grapes in a bowl, cars that pass in a minute.
- 2
Both write a secret guess.
- 3
Reveal your guesses.
- 4
Count it together.
- 5
The closest guess wins the round. Play best of five.
Make it easier
Use small amounts, under 20.
Make it harder
Try big numbers: steps to the park, leaves on a small branch.
Why it’s worth it
It's sneaky math practice that feels like a game, and you can play it anywhere.
