Down in the Deep
An imaginary submarine trip to the deep sea

Take an imaginary submarine ride to the bottom of the ocean and trade guesses about the strange animals that live there. Your kid will out-fact you by the end.
You’ll need
- Nothing (a flashlight under a blanket makes it better)
How to do it together
- 1
Climb into your "submarine": the couch, a blanket, or the bed with a flashlight.
- 2
Dive deeper and deeper, counting down the meters.
- 3
Take turns describing a creature you see: glowing, huge, with a light on its head.
- 4
Share real facts: the anglerfish has a glowing lure, giant squids have eyes as big as dinner plates.
- 5
Surface slowly and draw the strangest creature you met.
Make it easier
Keep it simple: fish, whales and octopuses.
Make it harder
Older kids can look up real deep-sea animals and quiz you.
Why it’s worth it
Curiosity is a great way to connect. Kids love knowing more than their parents about something.
With Weekadoo
In your weekly plan, this idea comes with deep-sea animal facts and questions (anglerfish, giant squid, pressure, darkness) written as talk prompts, written for your child
Every Sunday, a plan with a 10-minute idea for each child on weeknights and a family one for the weekend, picked for their ages and what they love.
