Sudsy sink helper
A toddler's favorite job: washing up

Pull a chair to the sink, fill it with warm bubbles and let your toddler wash unbreakable cups and spoons while you rinse and dry beside them.
You’ll need
- Warm water and dish soap
- Plastic cups, bowls and spoons
- A sturdy chair or step stool
- A towel
How to do it together
- 1
Put a sturdy step stool at the sink.
- 2
Fill the sink with warm (not hot) water and bubbles.
- 3
Give your toddler the unbreakable cups and spoons.
- 4
They wash, you rinse and dry, side by side.
- 5
Name everything as you go: cup, spoon, bubbles.
Safety: Stay right there, warm water only, and use a stable stool.
Make it easier
Use a plastic tub on the floor instead of the sink.
Make it harder
Let them sort the clean things by color or size.
Why it’s worth it
Toddlers love real jobs. Water play keeps them busy and calm, and they feel proud helping.
