Let's interview your teddy
Pretend play that gets toddlers talking

Hold up a stuffed animal and ask it silly questions while your child answers for it in a funny voice. Quiet toddlers start talking fast.
You’ll need
- A stuffed animal or doll
- A pretend microphone (a hairbrush or spoon)
How to do it together
- 1
Hold up the teddy and a pretend microphone, like a TV reporter.
- 2
Ask the teddy: "What did you eat today?"
- 3
Your child answers for the teddy, maybe in a funny voice.
- 4
Keep going: where do you sleep? What makes you giggle?
- 5
Swap: your child interviews you.
Make it easier
Use yes or no questions, and accept pointing or nodding as answers.
Make it harder
Interview two toys and let them argue about their favorite food.
Why it’s worth it
Speaking through a toy takes the pressure off. You'll hear what your toddler thinks about.
With Weekadoo
In your weekly plan, this idea comes with silly interview questions for a stuffed animal that a toddler can answer (what did you eat, where do you sleep, what makes you giggle), written for your child
Every Sunday, a plan with a 10-minute idea for each child on weeknights and a family one for the weekend, picked for their ages and what they love.
